How do I compare to researchers in my field? What do I do once my research is published? In this session, get answers to these questions and more as well as learn to define and find specific author, journal, and publication metrics. We will also discuss the pros and cons of relying on metrics such as the H-index and Journal Impact Factor (JIF).

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Interpret and criticize traditional author, journal, and publication metrics
  • Reframe these metrics to best fit an overall narrative of their publishing record
  • Modify their scholarly profiles to maximize both metrics and efficiency.
