This class is a follow up to our "Systematic Reviews: Practical Steps for Getting Started". A protocol is your project planning document. It allows you to complete a systematic or scoping review efficiently and accurately, ensures greater understanding among team members, and makes writing the manuscript easier. The PRISMA Reporting Standard lists the protocol as an "essential element" to your review, and many journals now require submitted reviews to have registered protocols. This class removes a lot of the confusion and intimidation around this first important step in your review process.

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the key components and structure of a protocol.
  • Identify resources to help authors prepare a protocol for a systematic or scoping review.
  • Begin the steps of registering a review with PROSPERO or OSF.

*If you are unable to attend this class, please fill out this form to request a one-on-one consultation with a Librarian.
