Web of Science
Web of Science (WoS) is a large, multi-disciplinary abstract and citation database of research publications. This online index covers journal articles not only in the health sciences, but also the life and physical sciences, the social sciences, and the arts and humanities. In addition to using it to find research articles, it is also an excellent tool for identifying research trends, key scholars in an area of study, and potential collaborators. You can use Web of Science to better understand the impact of your own research. Your WoS Author Profile page makes it easy to see where and how often your work is being cited.

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Employ tips and tricks for searching Web of Science
  • Discover trends and leaders in a research area (e.g., who are prolific authors, which institutions are publishing, what journals are they publishing in, who is funding the research?)
  • Gain insight into your own scholarly output
  • Get alerts when someone cites your work in a publication
