In this class, we will provide an overview of the components of a systematic review and the various reporting standards. We will also discuss the role of the librarian in enrolling your "participants"—the literature!—into your study, as well as tools to make your screening and data abstraction easier!

Note: this class is 75 minutes long!

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Define the purpose of a systematic review and describe how it is different from other review types
  • Describe the methodological components and steps needed to complete a systematic review
  • Identify manuals, reporting standards, risk of bias assessment tools appropriate for your review
  • Identify and access Duke’s systematic review screening software, Covidence
  • Apply this knowledge to a devise a research question and collaborate with a librarian and your team
